What's the Short Version? The Leave of Absence Administrator is responsible for administering leave programs within the Distribution Center in accordance with state and/or federal leave laws, policies, and procedures.
The LOA Administrator ensures thorough audits and reports are done efficiently, timely and consistently in compliance with company policies and legislative regulations.
What Will You Be Doing? Review employee leave requests to determine eligibility and certification in compliance with discretionary company policy, state and federal leave laws.
Process paperwork for leaves, disability and accommodations.
Responsible for create documentation, reporting, follow-up and communicating information to the local HR team, employees, payroll, management and insurance carriers.
Communicate leave or accommodation decisions and on-going expectations with employees, local HR and supervisors/managers.
Work closely with the Eastpointe Leaves team to ensure the LOA process runs smoothly for supervisors, manager, employees and health care providers.
Responsible for creating invoices and tracking benefit premiums paid while employees are on LOA.
Coordinate premium payments with payroll to ensure accurate accounting of premium payments, including arrears reconciliation.
Act as liaison between short-term disability carrier, state disability and workers compensation carriers.
Perform research and collaborates with employees, outside vendors and internal departments to identify and resolve problems related to leave.
Draft templates and communications to employees, local HR, or supervisors/managers.
Keep apprised of federal, state, and local leave laws and regulations and applies to individual situations.
What Are We Looking For? Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in employee benefits, disability, FMLA, ADA and multi-state leave administration or related disciplines.
1-3 years of experience in employee benefits, disability, FMLA, ADA and multi-state leave administration or related disciplines.
Must have strong knowledge and experience ensuring compliance and proper documentation in regard to all applicable laws, regulations, and plans, including HIPAA, FMLA, as well as all individual State Leave Acts, Military, and Company Sponsored Leave Programs, and workers compensation laws.
Ability to handle high volume workload and prioritize tasks while addressing sensitive situations with urgency.
Ability to make critical decisions and take actions to solve a problem while following company procedures.
Must be responsive to customer needs, including professionalism, respect and consideration of others.
Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
Excellent organizational skills and commitment to meeting deadlines.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and working with a variety of personalities and individuals.
Be self-directed and motivated.
Ability to interact professionally with executives, managers, legal, and subject matter experts.
